Message from the Dean of the College

Dr. Abdullah Al-Qassem
Dean of the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, UHA University

In a new and unique endeavor, the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences (Distance Higher Education) was launched to serve as a platform for Arab learners aspiring to earn advanced academic degrees from international universities—without the need for migration with its limited opportunities, without excessive costs, and in their native language (Arabic). I am honored to serve as the dean of this promising faculty.

We all know that successful management is a key driver of development in our developing societies. Management is a science based on globally developed theoretical foundations, adapted for practical use to be flexible and suited to different environments. Today, we have the opportunity to learn this science through international curricula while also adapting and applying it to build and develop institutions, programs, and projects.

This is where our civilizational responsibility as faculty and administrative staff comes into play: to supply both governmental and non-governmental institutions with scientifically qualified administrative personnel trained according to the latest modern management theories. We aim to apply our accumulated experience in local institutional management to the training and preparation of future managers and leaders in a way that is relevant to the realities of developing societies—especially in the Arab world.

We chose to begin with two administrative sectors where Arab institutions suffer from significant managerial challenges and a shortage of qualified professionals with both theoretical knowledge and practical experience: the healthcare and education sectors. We address this through our programs:

  • Master’s in Healthcare Management

  • Master’s in Educational Institution Management

  • Bachelor’s in Public Health

Our goal is to swiftly support Arab healthcare and educational institutions—especially in countries affected by war and political crises—with highly qualified professionals capable of contributing to the reconstruction of these vital sectors and putting institutions back in service of our communities, which remain at the center of our mission.

This is only the beginning. The future, with this ambitious Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, promises—God willing—many carefully planned and progressive steps in the health and medical fields.

May God guide us toward all that is good.
